Creative Exression Thursday

Hi all

Daisy Daisy give me your answer do..... la la la la all for the love of you..... Im singing, join in anytime you like... No ? anyone lol oh well
Gosh tht shows my age doesn't it.
So yesterdays card was pretty male and dark so I thought today I'd be opposite and go very bright and pretty girly.
So here it is.

Todays card.

I used the daisy quilt striplet stamp to create a back ground for our main focus. The stamps were part of John lockwoods collection of daisy themed stamps called Daisy chain elements.
Here is how to....

So here is the striplet stamp I used to created the image using grey ink and every other or so daisy I coloured in with yellow and mustard seed distress marker and a litte of one of the green ones too. I then  mounted it onto a mustard colour card followed by a lemon piece of card.
I also used a white pen to add fauz stitches on the mustard layer to match with the stitching on the striplet stamp too.
I then stamped out the heart in the set twice and cut them out on a small retangle piece of Milk card and also coloured these the same however I added a few backing colours like the weathered wood colour around the edge to make the daisies pop off the page.

I also started adding some green to the centre taking care to go around the petals to keep that spikey effect.

I then coloured the centre with Bundled sage distress pen also and flicked out some white gel pens on the inside barely seen with the bolder layer of  pen strokes but enough to give it light inside , I then stamped a little sentiment from the set across the centre of each heart in black.
I mounted it on the same combo of mustard and lemon card.

I created a double mat in milk for the backing piece to sit on and before I stuck it to the card I wrapped a small piece of Seam binding in Meadow green around the backing piece then stuck it down to the milk double layer.

                                                                              Et Voila....

Add your central piece on to some foam and then on the card.Add a small bow with a pearl in the bottom centre and some pearls in each corner and this piece is all done.

Here is a photo of the layers and below is the colours I used from my distress markers.

Bundled sage, Peeled paint,Mustard seed Squeezed lemonade, and weathered wood

This what the colouring today looks like.

I added the little seam blinding bag, bow and peals and it was all done.

Well I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial my daisy folks.
Take care of each other
Best wishes
Kim

Visible Image Wednesday.

Hi folks

Hope you are all having a good week my treasures, honestly though you all mean so much to me so its been great reading your comments.
Today I had an interview so fingers crossed for me (day job).
I have created a bit of an old treasure, male card this afternoon using 2 sentiment June launch stamps only and some card etc. Some natural fabric and lots of watch bits and a bulb and some cogs.
See what you think ?

I hope you like it and can see how easily a man would find this one interesting, from the old photos to the fab sentiments and cogs.
So without further ado lets get into the tutorial.

Take a  scrap of card almost square and keep stamping the Steal your future stamp in all directions rest some card over as a mask rather than double stamp anywhere. I used a archival ink in brown as I wanted to have that aged look.

Same piece of card with lots of walnut stain distress ink around the edges to dry the ink, Mount the card onto some black card or a little matting to look goood lol...

Take a piece of thinnish paper and stitch all around the edge in just a simple stitch like here I used running stitch and after inking the edges and the stitching mount this onto black card also.

Add the first piece to the 2nd piece leaving a gap down the side for some nice things.

Add the whole piece to a piece of milk coloured card for our base.

add a piece of hessian slightly frayed and stick it to the card. also add a strip of thin cheese cloth twisted and frayed also.

Stamp out your sentiment on milk card with an embossing ink and clear embossing powder. Use the same walnut stain distress ink to add the shading and once at the desired shade and tone, simply rub the ink off the raised embossing and look at the lettering to see if you are happy.

I took some tim holtz paper and on one page were about 20 photos  still to be sorted.I took the paper and distressed and inked the edges I also curled up the paper in place and added my cogs and embellishments.I also added a couple of adage tickets of timmies too.

Here is the bottom right corner.

 Bottom left plus embellishments.

Bottom right with old watch cogs etc.

 Top right.

Top left.
completed card side angle. With lots of embellishments.

A close up, I hope you  like it .
And the original photo one last time.

I do enjoy making a male themed card.

Here are the two stamps I used.

I hope you enjoyed this 2 stamp tutorial and that you have a go with some old bits and pieces you think could be used as embellishments , I had randomly some old watch parts and some newer cogs etc and old button with the shank cut off too anything goes as long as it isn't too heavy.
Have a great day my friends and I will be back of course tomorrow.

Huge huge hugs.

Love

Creative Expressions Thursday

Hi Folks

Today is Creative Expressions day as always and I have a really clean and simple card to show on the blog.
Sometimes when you have something pretty it is really nice to do the clean and simple thing and for me I find them harder than my usual style with lots of detail and many features to look at but I was recently asked to show some beginner tutorials on twitter so I thought Id do a week or easy to follow once this week and maybe every now and then as we all have our own style too don't we but it is good to be versatile so this is today's clean and simple Rosebud  Friend card.

As you can see it is pretty easy with just a few steps in order to get that nicely finished element that some clean cards do not seem to have sometimes to me and again this could be a personal opinion but some I feel like there is something missing like the finishing touches are just not there but like i say we all see things in a different way don't we, that's why we all produce different unique artwork. Anyway stop rambling on Kim and show the tutorial haha...

Here goes....

I took a small piece of Milk card about 31/2 by 4 inches and stamped my little sentiment and Rosebud onto it, The rose I think would work so well on a variety of cards like sympathy or wedding or valentines and anniversary , a rose bud is always beautiful on its own but equally there is another rosebud in the set that can be used to create a bouquet which I hope to do next week for you all, wish will need masking etc but good fun.

Next I took a tumbled glass distress pen and very simply coloured in the first layer of colours on the bud, just as you layer your distress inks for backgrounds it is the same with the pens if you want to achieve a good blend and a nice finish with depth.I used two separate greens on the leaves and stem and left a light area on the stalk and areas on the leaves and petals as the light would definitely hit certain areas almost bleaching out the colour.I then matted than piece onto a mat of cornflower blue card but kept a think border and set aside.

Next I took a larger piece of Milk card about 51/2 by 61/2 inches and stamped one of the leafy edge stamps in the bottom left corner and then one larger leaf too. I again coloured that in using two separate green distress markers and a little white drawing ink in a wash over the top to create that foggy romantic feel. I also matted this piece onto the same blue card.

I then went back to the first piece and added a 2nd layer of colour onto the rose and leaves can you see the different a slightly darker pen in the naturally shaded areas make on both the rosebud and leaves, in fact even the stem looks sharper and like its in better focus.
I again added a white ink wash over the leaves for that hazy look.

I went back to the last piece with the leaves on the bottom left and added three pieces of slightly overlapped blue seem binding ribbon along the top. I then added some foam onto the back of the rosebud piece and added that onto this piece slightly off centre and partially covering the ribbon strips shown here.

While I was here I decided to add some stickles glitter glue to the bud but not the entire thing just a few lines in the shaded parts and a I love a blue rose it really gave a good twinkle. I used a different shade onto the other piece with the leaves too and set aside both to dry.

I decided to add a double mat of Milk card to  create a nice elegant backing to this clean card and so I kept a large gab with foam in between the two layers and the first piece I used my piercing ruler and a needle to pierce the edges all the way around this photo shows the piercing but also the layers throughout the card and whats gaps I  left etc so although nice and clean and simple there is still depth and dimension through out the card too.

I tied a three layer blue seem binding bow and glued it onto the top left and used one of the brand new dazzlers from the silver tone pack which has a slight hint of blue, in the pack they have a few different tonal hues which are simply gorgeous and a perfect size for covering bow knots.

So this is how it looks all together in a full photo.

And here is the main image again which finishes this one, See simple but still elegant , fairly quick but with lots of depth and dimension simply done in the colouring so the Rosebud Elements stamps by John Lockwood then speak for themselves.

Well folks I hope you have a great Thursday I often think of you all and wonder what you are up to and if you are all well.

Huge crafty hugs for you all

Best wishes
Your bloggy friend

Visible Image Wednesday

Hi my lovelies

Hope you are all well and enjoying the warm weather, It is so nice to walk into work with the sun shining and the feeling of warmth on your skin isn't it. No coats and brollies haha.

I have a little card today created with just one back ground stamp and two sentiments to keep it simple and show you how you can layer again on the backing and then let the gorgeous sentiments speak for themselves.

Here is today's card

So lets get started on how to put this one together. It is of a fairly easy level so can be put together quite quickly if you needed to.

To start I stamped with embossing ink and the Retro dots Background hand held not on a block and randomly stamped around the edges using clear embossing powder I then heat set it and that is the shiney dots you can just see in the above picture.

Next I took a couple of inks dusty concorde and spiced marmalade i believe and started to add some inking down on paper just to get the first layer into the card.

I added a 2nd layer of ink and then took the retro dots and used the same inks to add a little tone on tone dots in the background too.

Then I took a very dark brown ink and edged all around the card to just bring the eye in a little. i also took my water spray and spritzed the card and dripped water onto the ink and blotted off to create some large drips too.
Next I stamped the gorgeous sentiments I chose to use on this one.

Then made a double mat for the whole thing to sit on.

I added some pretty thick foam to the back of the inky piece and added it to the backing this would work either horizontally or vertically which ever way as I kept the pattern fairly neutral in style.

I took the sentiments from earlier and inked the edges slightly with the marmalade and walnut stain inks then added a small black mat so they didn't get lots in the inky backing.

Adding that same thick foam to the back of those two pieces I got both little sentiment flags on board

Here is Believe which fits perfect with many other stamp sets within the Fabby Visible Image range too.

This was one of the new fabulous June launch sentiments and I love them all they are so different from anything else out there and we love unique don't we folks.

well I hope you liked this weeks card here is a last look before I show you the stamps I used.

All I added was some simple pearls to the corners these are 6mm in size. I kept it all about the words as they mean a lot to me. If you are a journalling or scrap booking person wouldn't this be absolutely fabulous wording for that.

 Believe/Follow your dreams.

So that was this weeks stamps sometimes it just needs to be really simple and clean and doesn't need anything else and other time I like to be really detailed too Its good to be versatile isn't it.

Ok folks I will see you all tomorrow with another card, Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Best wishes to all
