It is so good to once again be here with you that I thought I would share this little card I created using the gorgeous Sue Wilson Die from her Spanish collection entitled - Granada.
To all those ladies that didn't see my post from yesterday again I would like to profess huge thanks for all my messages and cards etc and even one of the neighbours in the close I live in has been ferrying me back and forth from the hospital as of course driving with a cast on your leg is impossible lol, of course I am now cast free and loving the freedom of being able to get behind the wheel again after 7 weeks without.
I will over the next couple of weeks be sorting out some little goody bags and cards for those lovely ladies who send me cards and messages but bare with me as it may take a little bit of time for me to get them in the post as I am only just starting to walk etc and driving is easier than walking haha.
So I picked up this Die and the more I looked at it the more I kept seeing a butterfly in amongst the shape. So I cut one out on my GC in Coconut white card and another in Plum as you know it really is one of my favourites and I just started sniping into it, what do you think?
After I snipped the white Butterfly shape out I cut the corners off the Plum Die cut and turned them over to use as inserts in the wing. Then in the centre of the top of the dies and the bottom there was A little heart which I cut out and mounted them both on to white card and Fussy cut out for the body which I raised up just a little on 1mm foam and that gave me something to push the two stick pins I made into for the antennae.
I also used a sparkly gel pen to draw some little dots and I followed the embossing on the wings too just for a sparkly hint. I cut another plum die cut from the Granada and mounted it on white card for the base so the butterfly could sit on a full die cut this I raised onto 3mm foam to allow light to play through all the gorgeous detailed cut outs on the edges.
I took a piece of coconut card and stamped my 'Just Because' sentiment on the bottom right I then ran the top part of this piece through the Intrinsic embossing folder by Couture Creations twice to cover the size which didn't match perfect but it didn't matter as it was then covered on the join.
I also added some of the champagne crinkle edge ribbon which I love and wrapped it around the lower part of the card I then used some seem binding which I slowly pleated using the cosmic shimmer glue just under each pleat, it works a treat. I mounted it on to Plum then a larger mat and layer of white and again plum with foam in between the mid layer.
You can see the dimension better on the butterfly from this angle.
And here is the close up on the embossing which I followed with a gold sparkle gel pen wherever the swirls led the pen and I really liked the effect once done.
As I made ruffles on the seem binding wrapped around the mid section I decided to keep the bow simple and elegant and just added one of the Vintage button embellishments that are flat on the back so they sit lovely on bows etc as you can see here.
Well I hope you have enjoyed today's card, don't forget to leave me a comment , I really have missed reading all your lovely kind words and hearing all about your styles and what you would like to see etc so please let me know if there is anything you would like to see specifically. I need all your help to expand the blog and get lots of lovely people leaving comments in preparation for more shows on C&C and hopefully some workshops etc up at Kettering as I would love to meet more of you.
Have a great Friday , don't forget to check back soon.
Lots of love
Kim

Morning Kim, A beautiful card, I love the colours and I also love what you have done with the embossing on the background, I love it !! What a genius idea, you saw a butterfly within the die-cut. I have never snipped into die-cuts, apart from the leaves to make them smaller sprigs haha.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day. I'll say it again, it's really good to see you back !!
Lots of love from Patricia xx
Hi Patricia
DeleteThanks so much , I am glad you will be snipping away soon haha, I always cut out a new die and lay all the pieces out on the desk and have a good old look to see what I can see and you will be suprised what pops out. Thank you for being here today and for all your kindness
Big hugs

Hi Kim. Love the card, it is so pretty :) I sadly don't have this die but you have made a beautiful butterfly out of it. I love the colour combo too, one of my favourites. I do try snipping all of the dies that I have and it is amazing what you can do isn't it!
ReplyDeleteJust want to add a message to Stephanie. You won't regret having your op. I had the same about 12 years ago and wish I had had it done earlier. Just a few weeks of recovery then you will feel soooo much better. Hope this helps you put your mind at rest : )
Have a great weekend everyone, and take it steady Kim, don't try and do too much too soon.
Take care.
Thanks Mrs B, it's good to hear positive comments, I am really hoping it will solve some of my problems, but it doesn't seem real yet and I'm such a coward where hospitals are concerned.
DeleteHi Mrs B

I don't have the die Kim, but I have just looked at a picture of one and can see how the butterfly came about by snipping a bit here and there, but still very clever of you. I love the colours and the pleated seam binding looks great with that beautiful satin ribbon and vintage FB button. Take care. x
ReplyDeleteHi Pat
DeleteThanks so much and I am glad you found the butterfly, its so weird how these things just leap out sometimes lol.
Thanks for popping n and leaving your kind words.

Hi Kim,
ReplyDeleteThat's a hum-dinger of a card - I love the Granada die as I immediately saw the butterfly in it and, of course, bought it. (I shudder to think of my bank balance once Sue brings out her new dies!).
BUT...... you clever lady, I never thought of cutting the die INTO a butterfly - what a lovely idea and the outcome is stunning.
Hope you are getting stronger every day. Do you still have pains in your leg?
Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Rose
Hi Rose
DeleteThanks for the lovely comment as always and I knew you would see the butterfly haha, hes a sneaky fellow hiding in there. Yes the leg is still painful but getting stronger by day and I am spending time on starting to build the muscle back up aagain to support all the work the surgeon did, Thank you so much for asking and your continued support
Hugs

This is so clever. We've missed your unique slant on things!!! Guess the play of light on it is stunning. Apart from the flowers, I didn't buy the dies because I just couldn't decide which I liked best!! Bit silly to miss out completely I know!!! Enjoy resting up in the lovely weather. Love Jan x
ReplyDeleteHi Jan
DeleteAhh bless you , that is so nice of you to say, I missed you all too.I think all the card look so much more pretty in real life definitely and the light casts lots of shadows and a little sparkle all over. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy some sun

Lovely card Kim, especially like the colour combination you have used. The Spanish dies are my favourite, although I don't have any yet I think at least one will be coming my way soon. I have to admit I wouldn't have spotted the butterfly

Hi Kim. Slowly but surely Im catching up with you again lol. You've done it again, maybe your 'forced break' away from your craft room has polished the grey matter, maybe I need a 7 week break ( maybe a brain rather than a break) !! Lol.
ReplyDeleteLike Mrs B I dont have this die either :( Im ashamed to say Ive only 2 sets of Sue's dies - oh no, 3 wow, more than Id remembered - see, I said a brain would help ! The Italian decorative frame packet wont be opened until Im ready to make our daughters wedding card next month. But Id never thought of cutting into a die, I still have so much to learn which is why I love my Wilsonette and Kimmie blogs along with 1 other Wilsonettes blog, so now I should start looking at dies in a different light, thanks for the fab idea.
Purple, beautiful colour and in so many shades. You have made a stunner again Kim.
Im off to the next now, then I should have caught up just in time to feed my hubby.
Bye for now, see you on the next page, if blogs have virtual pages : /
Hugs.
