Happy Thursday lovelies
I am on the way to the NEC at Birmingham with Sue and Julia and so If you see us please come and say hi , I'd love to meet you all and If not then we will meet soon I know it. ( we are there to look not demo today).
I am scheduling this post to come on while I am away but I will be here as normal tomorrow and more prepping for the OP and getting sorting this weekend to make life easier when I get home Tuesday I hope.
So Another part of this months DT package I received in the post was a couple of gorgeous perfume bottles and 2 things I wanted to try was to make one looked domed like I did with the purse the other week but this time just with shading so it will actually be totally flat. The next thing I will do with it is to age it and make it look really old but I knew I didn't have enough time for that tonight so I went for gorgeous teals and blues with Milk card and pewter wax used with the rub on technique and I also Painted with it too.
So here is today's card.
I used the Couture Creations Tied together Embossing folder for the background and I stamped my image using grey momento as I coloured It with alcohol markers and then used wax and blending solution to paint it onto parts of the image too.
I also coloured my cameo to match the card as she started off dark brown.
My bow in crinkle ribbon in a grey, silver tone.
The sentiment or should I say scent-iment ( so not funny I know lol) bottom right corner, I love doing this lately.
You can just about to see the curve on the bottle here.
There we are, close up and you can see it looks domed, so easy to see in real life but I have moved it every angle apart from standing on my head and ... just no so don't ask lol
Here just to prove it is totally flat.
Well I hope you see what I mean and I hope you enjoyed today's post too, Anyone leaving a comment can win this card today so have a great day and I will answer as soon as possible.
Big hugs to all
Love
Kim

Morning Kim, Another beautiful card, the colours 'marry' perfectly and the wax looks stunning. I love the tied together embossing folder, and I use it regularly. Yes, the perfume bottle does look slightly domed, the shading is fabulous, and every time I see the sentiment I smile, it is great !!
ReplyDeleteI hope you all have a fantastic day at the NEC, I am going there on Saturday, how I wish that we were there on the same day. Nevertheless, have a fantastic day, I know you will.

ReplyDeleteHi Kim
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous card today. With the shading the scent bottle does look rounded. Would love to win one of your creation they are all stunning. I also love the tied together and as Patricia says they are still available on those craft sites. Hope you have a lovely day at the NEC. Went to Farnborough this year so won't be off to the NEC this time. Not to sure when the Autumn one will be, if it's not to early in Sept will probably go then. Hope your op goes well.

Oh wow this is amazing. Enjoy the NEC I wish I could be there but life is a bit hectic at the moment. I'm still hoping to come to Ally Pally. Love Jackie
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Kim
ReplyDeleteLovely card Kim, you can see from the very first pic that the perfume bottle looks perfectly domed - but then I'm not surprised as you're fab when it comes to colour. Your card really is 'scent-sational' (sorry, I couldn't resist) and I love the co-ordinating cameo and bow. Enjoy the NEC (I'm jealous, I'm in Northern Ireland) ladies and be good!
Hugs

This is a beautiful card Kim, and that turquoise blue is my favourite colour. The Tied Together EF looks really pretty with the little gems, and you have certainly made the perfume bottle look 3D. A stunning ribbon and stick pins to finish. Hope you have a good time at the NEC. x
ReplyDeleteLove the 3D and transparent effect on the perfume bottle. A lovely card, again. Do you use the blending solution for larger areas of card or would it help me to apply the wax, which I'm not very good with and which appears to be drying out!! Thank you, Jan x
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI bet you had a great day today with Julia and Sue..........
Love your card, those colours are much more ME than yesterday's...
Now tell me, how exactly did you manage to get the 3D effect - is it the paint made from the wax and solution that' the "critical mass"
Hugs, Rose
Hi Kim
ReplyDeleteHope you all had a super day out together at the NEC. I imagine it was very busy, but interesting ? lots of people with lots of bags of goodies no doubt ?
The card is gorgeous, really pretty colours.
Re the waxes drying out there seems to be different advice floating around?
What is the best thing to do Kim if they go dry? or does it depend on the make of them. I've heard using a gentle hair dryer or put them on the radiator to soften up again? I keep mine in a very air tight box and double check the tops are tight, but any tips would be very helpful, Thanks in advance x
I have the same problem but have had some limited success with the hair dryer but found it best to put them on the radiator for a couple of hours or so........... Hot water bath is not so good because it gets cold too quickly.
DeleteGod knows what I'll do when summer comes and the radiators are off.
Hugs, Rose
If your wax dries out you can use a heat gun to soften it or if you have the creative expressions blending solutions, you can use a little to soften the wax, can also be used to thin the wax so you can paint with it. I have since bought some treasured gold wax which although more expensive it is a bigger pot & doesn't dry out, beautiful stuff. Hope this helps.
DeleteThanks for the replies ladies, much appreciated x

Hi Kim. Just want to say that we are all missing you and hope that you will feel up to blogging very soon, but if you don't we understand. Take care.
ReplyDeleteSheila, I couldn't find Kims email address when I looked (not good at this! ) Glad that you have heard from her. I was starting to get really worried. Take care.
Hi Kim, Hope all is well with you and that you are starting to pick up after your op. and have not had any setbacks. I know these things take time and it can be very frustrating to be somewhat immobile. I was in plaster for three months when I ruptured by achilles tendon and although I was lucky that after the initial few days was not in pain, but it was still the longest three months of my life. I know you said you might have a short stint at Ally Pally this weekend so hope you are feeling up to it as I'm sure lots of people will be glad to see you and wishing you well. Sadly I will not be able to get there, but anyway all the best. Pat xx
ReplyDeleteHi Kim I saw your name on the demo list at Ally Pally yesterday but you weren't there. Are you ok? I have missed seeing your gorgeous creations on your blog. I hope you feel better soon. Love Jackie
ReplyDeleteHi Kim
ReplyDeleteCan't email you direct as you email address is no longer on your blog. I was getting worried as we had not heard from you in awhile. I assume that you are still convalescing and hope that you are feeling better as the days go by.
I just really wanted to say that I have just watched Emma Lou and Nicki demonstrating the Celebrate the Journey release. And wanted to let you know how fantastic the card they kept showing of the one you did with the dress. Dean was also taken with it and kept showing it at every opportunity. Once again hope you will be feeling better soon.
Hi Kim. Just checking in to see if you are up to blogging again. Pat S Witney has basically just said what I was going to say so I won't repeat it : ) Looking forward to finding out that you are feeling better. Take care.
ReplyDeleteDear Kim hope you are feeling better I'm thinking of you I would like to wish you happy Easter god bless and keep you always xxxxx
