It is Thursday so It is Creative Expressions day of course and I have a little card I created using last months set of DT items so as I missed a day this month I thought I would show one more and use some of this next months things for next week.
So without further ado here it is,
So You can see I used a couture creations embossing folder called The Harmony collection, Lighthouse. Of course we had all those lovely seaside images for stamps so this embossing folder came with them.
I embossed some milk card stock and inked it with Vintage photo and a little Walnut stain on the edges mainly to bring out the embossing from the folder but also to draw the eye in to the centre.
I added a piece of Burlap to the bottom and I had recently brought this string which I think looks like rope as it comes wrapped around itself like is is on the card. so I let it snake itself round and glued it where it sat.
Here is a bit closer so you can see I also added a little Anchor button to the rope too.
I stamped my sentiment from the Grande sentiments from CE and cut it our by hand creating a ribbon fork and matting it onto some Plum card and cutting it out by hand with a tiny border. I added it to the card with a bow or bend in the middle to give it a lift off the card and added another little metal button from my stash. I also rounded the corners of the embossed card on the top before mounting it onto Plum card them milk and a last matt of plum to finish the card.
Here is another view so you can see that one set of layers is on foam and the dimension of the items on the card too.
And a last full view.
This is quite masculine in its feel isn't it but You could easily add some ribbon and a nice bow at the bottom with a nice ribbon rose or some pearls or sparkle and voila its instantly more girly , I like cards that can morph into either sex , especially if you keep the sentiment pretty generic.
Well I hope you like today's card and you have a great Thursday.

Hi Kim,
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing ok and the foot and ankle are making progress.
Yes , this would be a great masculine card but as you say change the colours and the rope to ribbon and you would pretty it up!
I must use my embossing folders a bit more , sometimes I forget!

Hi Ruth
DeleteI think we all sometimes forget what stash we have until we have a little (or Big) turnout then we try the next thing for a while before we decide to stash it all away again and get somethig new haha.
I have lots of embossing folders but I never really reach for them unless i use them for my DT or show work either Ruth.

Evening Kim, great card for a man, I'm always on the look out for more masculine ideas as they always seem so much harder to find inspiration for. Hope you are keeping well.

This is a lovely card and a great masculine embossing folder Kim. The neutral shades go really well with the plum card and I love the way you have lifted part of the banner up from the background and the added embellishments which complement the card perfectly. Hope the swelling in your foot is fast improving now. x
ReplyDeleteHi Pat
DeleteI liked this one too once it was done but I was a bit bewildered when i first saw the folder I must admit.
You know i love my plum card haha.I like to do that with banners just raise them in the middle it really does add something to any card, especially if it is poking out from under flowers say.
Thank you for all your kind wishes.

Lovely embossing folder and the inking around the edge really makes it pop As much as I love the lighthouse I can only think of one person in my life that I could send it to - my dad.he lives on the coast So I couldn't justify buying something like this as I don't sell my cards But the concept is stunning
