1st of the month which means a new challenge is beginning over on the Visible Image blog. This month is Anything goes so as long as you get your Visible Image stamps out you can enter with absolutely any theme and the winner gets to choose £20 worth of stamps for the prize if they are chosen. So us girlies on the team all create something for the beginning of the month and here is mine.
I chose to use the Time set with the background from the new Revolution set recently launched.
This is how I started stamping out the background stamp from the Revolution set in Brown versafine ink but if you have archival or any pigment ink then that will do just fine. I left a couple of gaps so I can add some tone on tone stamping once I add the colours to it.
So I chose just 2 colours and added them in my usual fashion then added some tonal stamping from the Time set in different areas to layer the colours etc. I then added some versamark around the edge and embossed it with Copper powder and I stamped some words and my title and embossed in true white. ( I made sure I dried my distress ink really well before any embossing and rubbed my anti static pad over it too as I didn't want my embossing powder to stick all over the card which can happen easily, so dry dry dry ladies.)
Here are the two colours I chose for this one.
So next I ripped my page in the corner and rolled the edges back, I pushed under a metal clock face from Prima and used versamark over the lower half and the ripped edges and randomly tipped on the copper powder down the left side of the card, I also sprinkle in a little white powder too.
I stamped the clock in Black archival ink and dried to heat set it. I then covered it in Versamark and embossing powder in clear and gave it two coats of that for a really glossy protected surface.Next I did the trick with UTEE again I had 3 layers here and then pushed the wing stamp into it , of course I gave it a coat of embossing ink to help it release from the molton powder. I did this process for both wings to have the opposites of course.
Here's a close up of the wing cut out and mounted on card ( you have to cut it out fairly quickly or the utee will crack so within the first 20 mins after stamping it out is the very longest.) Here you can see I took so black ink and lightly rubbed it over the wing to add a little dimension to it. Nice chrisp image and deep , this really shows just how deep these fab stamps really are.
Here is a close up ( look at me all David Bailey today haha)
So here is the stamp Sets I used on this one.
And a final look at the main image on the card.
I hope you like it and do consider entering the challenge it is good fun.
Have a great Tuesday and I will see you very soon

Another really lovely card Kim. I the UTEE technique you have used as well as the copper powder you have scattered at the top and heat set. It certainly creates a bit of drama on a card. The background stamping and the ink colours you have chosen are brighter and perhaps challenge our ideas of the sort of colours we would normally expect to see for this sort of card, but it is good to broaden our horizons when it comes to colour choice and I think this really works. x
ReplyDeleteHi Pat
DeleteThankyou for everything you said above as that is it on the nail exactly why I mix up colourslike i do at times to prove that opposites on the colour wheel really do have a function together too.

Hi Kim,
ReplyDeleteanother amazing card - is there anything you cannot do with UTEE?? I'm still a bit cautious about using it, shall concentrate on texture paste first............
Don't forget to elevate..................

Love the UTEE embellishment! Colours are great I really need a day away from work, housework, shopping, ironing... and perhaps a waiter/butler on standby to serve me drinks & food so that I can just play doing random stuff like your inking, embossing etc I can dream!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen
DeleteYou need a day from work to play crafty craft not housework haha. We can all dream all that Karen but when you wake the house is still a mess the work still has to get done, the job still is there and no rich millionaire to whisk away. haha
Nice to dream though
