Visible Image Wednesday

Hi Folks

Happy Wednesday to you all and of course for me that means it is Visible Image stamping day and I have a brand new card for the first day in October as a new challenge starts and you could be in with a chance to win £20 worth of Visible Image stamps at the end of the month and you can choose them if you won, all you need to do is get out those Visible Image stamps and make a little something and link it to the blog.

So the theme for October is 'Something Spooky' and I am sure that means all you Halloween lovers and night owls like me will be very excited as I enjoy Halloween more than I like Christmas.

Here is the little card I made for the inspiration post to give people ideas on getting started on a card or something to enter into the challenge this month.

So I took some white stamping card which is a little smoother than regular card making card so you can blend inks etc and so that you also don't get ink spreading into the paper and bleeding the lines out.
I started with the new INKognito Flower and stamped it three times in Versa fine black ink and then heat set it. I took the stem out of that set and stamped it in the same ink around the page but randomly, not just as is, I added a little here then a bit there , (you get the jist. ) I made sure I stamped off the page also with the flower and with the stem edge to give it a more organic feel on the paper.
I then masked off the are to use for the moon and I wanted a huge bright glowy moon, Do you think I got the effect?
Here we are a little closer and you can see the detail a little more. I feel like you cannot see all the colours in this although the blue and purple are very accurate the red in the face on the moon and dripping from the flowers is much more vibrant in life so the camera certainly hasn't picked that up.
So next with the mask in place for the moon I began to ink with distress ink, I started at the moon edge with a little Milled lavender as I wanted a wisp of purple before slipping into the blues, I usually go for the dark colours at the top and the lighter down the bottom but this time to create the slightly eerie light I switched it around and did it light to dark in a slow fade down the page from Faded Jeans to Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire and finally a little Black Soot which is still not as black as the Versafine so You can still see the edging I added earlier.
I then took the script stamp from the Revolution set and stamped in chipped Sapphire in a couple of places and over the moon mask as I knew I wanted the writing to blur with the water and ink mister coming next.
So I took a water spritzer and misted the page till the writing started to wick out and then I sprayed water into my hand and dripped it onto the page , waited a few seconds and used a tissue to pull up the little patches to create a mottled look on the page, I took a blue ink spritzer without mica and misted the page to give that intense deep look to the colour.

This stage I dried the card really well with my heat gun. I took a white pen and gently added it to the top of the flowers anywhere the moon light would hit strongly I also added a few white dots in the sky, not actual stars as I new I was adding glitter and didn't want it to then look Christmassy.
I  peeled off my mask and lair it onto a piece of card ad cut around it , I then laid that reverse mask onto the card and took My INKognito Man and stamped his face on to the very edge of the moon in Dusty Concorde Distress and blended the edges out with stormy sky and then a little chipped Sapphire too.

Here is a close up on the moon, I blended some milled lavender and a few tiny swipes of the blue across the moon. Taking away the Reverse mask I added a fang and some bloody lips and drips under the Moon and to the flowers with a red metallic gel pen , I used a Sakura silver stardust pen also and went around the moon and the Sakura white  Gelly roll pen I used earlier too to make the flowers stand forward and the moon although very bright to recede behind a little, The dark shading directly on top of the flowers allows the background to recede back also. Remember white and light colour highlights and pushes things forward, dark and black allows things to recede and push back. And ladies that is the same in make up too, contour areas that you want to hide , highlight areas you want to show off. ( ha make up geek too).
I then added some Treasure gold in a rich gold colour to the edges quite heavily and over the edges of the flowers and top of card just randomly but buffed it in well and brought out the shine.
I also got out the quickie glue pen and some very very fine glitter and added drips of it down the page and across the moon  to give it texture , in the flowers and anywhere that needed a little.

I matted onto plum, white black and white card without dimension and added some antique looking metal corners which had pumpkins in the middle so I couldn't resist them and that finished it off, I felt I didn't want to add any more bling so stuck with the metal corners.

The stamps I used n this one were.

I am not sure how spooky this one really turned out but it does have a bit of an eerie feel to the background.I absolutely love this arty range Mark and Helen have created and called INKognito and even the stem on the flower here makes such a wonderful grungy textures edging on paper so I cant wait to try it with my Vintage photo and walnut stain inks  on a distressed edge piece too, I think it would really create a wonderfully old looking frame.

Anyway guys and dolls its been lovely catching up with you today , I hope you will leave me a message and tell me what you think and I will catch up with you again tomorrow when it will be a new month for Creative Expressions so new goodies to play with on the DT too.

Huge hugs

From me to you

Love
Kim

  1. I love this card, it's not the standard "spooky" , which I like, but it does have a really eerie atmosphere, I keep expecting something to swoop across the front...is there a bat lurking somewhere I wonder ?! I must get my VI stamps out and join in the new challenge, time got the better of me last month. You are very inspiring Kim, thanks :) xx
