Creative Expressions June 2014 Blog Hop

Hello Everyone.

Welcome to the Creative Expressions June 2014 Blog Hop! Hopefully you got here from Julia's's blog, but if you didn't, here's the start at the Creative Expressions News Blog.

The four new large Frame stamps from Creative Expressions have been designed with co-ordinating mini frames inside, which can be used separately or as a whole and also swapped with other frame designs in the range. There are also an additional four mini frame designs, plus sentiment sets which have been designed to fit inside the various frames.

One randomly selected person commenting on this blog post before the closing date will win a fabulous prize of some of the new stamp designs.

So without further ado here is the two cards I created for the start of today's hop , yes I said it,  its a twofer!  folks haha supriseeeee.
If you saw our lovely Julia's shows yesterday on Create and craft you will know the two most popular stamps sold out very quickly and they just happen to be the ones I chose so here is card number 1.

Be Happy.

This one features the Garden frame with a sentiment from the All occasions set of sentiments which I love love love.
I started by stamping my image in black archival on custard card and blasting it dry to set it with a heat gun. I also stamped my sentiment for the centre, which can be done by lining the edge of the stamp with the edge of your block and then following that or you can cut the middle out of the main stamp so you can see through it and stamp the sentiment first and stamp the image around it, the choice it yours as they say hehe.
I then used my distress pens to colour in the image and give it lots of shading, I really enjoyed this. once done I cut the middle out with a craft knife and added foam to the back, I mounted that piece on to a piece of custard card then onto soft gold card.
I then added several layers of foam to the centre piece avoiding the corners so the foam would sit inside the aperture, I wanted it to sit just a little proud.
Here is a closer view of the centre and the colouring in.
I made up another mat of milk and gold with 1mm foam in between and added my middle section on an angle onto it.
Next I took a larger piece of custard card and ran it through Sue's fabulous Tapestry folder and ran some cut and dry with Mustard seed distress ink across the edges and corners and again dried.
I wrapped some Guipire lace around the top and bottom of the card and added a braid ribbon at the edge too.
This view gives you a look at that lace.

I added this onto a soft gold mat and a double base of custard card with a pierced layer in between. I added flat back 8mm pearls to the corners and I tied a bow from Yellow and white Bakers twine and a little trim added to it with a flower , here is a close up of the bow.

Overall Dimensions for this 'Be Happy' card are roughly 7 x8 71/2 inches.

So to card number two Now was you a custard and gold girlie/Gent today or are you a blush and plum kinda friend today? Take a look.

 Friends Forever.

I again went for this angle with the gorgeous new stamps, I really like the way they look with this angle and of course it has my favourite plum card included so wish is the one for you?

I stamped out the beautiful Rose frame onto blush card with a sentiment again from the All Occasions set. I cut this out with a spellbinder square die and again coloured the image with distress pens but this time kept the image as a whole. I used a white gel pen for natural highlights in the flowers as I normally do. I took some natural Calico fabric and frayed the edges of a square slightly larger than the stamp to use as the first mat. I just love this shabby chiq look so the more fraying the better for me.

I took a larger piece of blush card and ran it through Sue's cascading hearts embossing folder and slightly inked to bring out the design with Spun Sugar distress ink.
I wrapped some crochet ribbon and some Pink seam binding around the lower section and mounted it onto plum card.
Here is a close up of the colouring and centre with the calico.

I then added a further mat of blush then plum card stock and cut a length of seam binding to match the wrapped area I also cut it in half length ways so i would also fray a little and look more wispy, I also ripped a thin piece of frayed calico and added that to my bow with some pearl strands and a vintage open button for the middle of the bow. Lastly  some flat back pearls finished the card.,

Shabby chiq bow.

My last image gives another angle and the finished dimensions are 61/2 x 8 inches.
