Fridays post

Hi all
So sorry I missed yesterday's post hmm not sure whats going on but migraine knocked me out again. so I'm adding the last card from the show and another couple of your cards today and I will get our posts sorted this week.
On the show I took on a card that I loved with the colour scheme etc and so I thought I'd re create it but with some different dies and as I ran out of time on the show the word was left off as they were also die cuts so I thought I'd put them on together and see which looks best.

I hope you are all well and have had a good week so far with no men with little or big hammers in your heads haha.

Here's my Joy card.

The crackled background was created using the new Potting Soil Wendy Vechi archival ink colour and salty ocean distress ink .
Now here is the one I did on the show

                                                                       And together.
I think I was a little heavier handed with the one on the show and the Salty Ocean , I guess it just depends what your into as to which would be your thing, although this one is showing the embossing from the Just Rite background more as it was embossed with True white embossing powder.

Inspired by
In this section I get to show some of your wonderful cards that you have sent to me saying you had been inspired by something you saw on the blog and I am proudly displaying them here for you all to enjoy as much as I do.

First up is Sue B.
She sent me a few of her wonderful cards and so here I added just two and I am sure the eagle eyed among you will know exactly which of my cards were the ones Inspired by.

Aren't they great , well done Sue.
Here are the ones I did.
 Taylored Expressions, discover your wings.
And this one you saw just the other day .

Next up I have a couple of cards by Carol Clarke
She also sent me some gorgeous makes and I am proud to show them here.

Isn't this gorgeous well done Carol.

And carol saw I used a die with corners which she didn't have so she cut up her die into four and used them in the corners, very clever Carol and that is the best way to look at dies so that you can see what else you can make with them.

These were my cards.

 Visible Image stamps here.

This of course was the gorgeous black eyed Susan again and a the gorgeous background die being spellbinders to make he frame.

Well that's it for today guys before my eyes start to go again, Have a wonderful Friday and I will see you back here very soon.

Keep the cards coming and I look forward to our chats later.

Hugs

Monday feeling...Inspired by...

Hi Folks.

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and at least we didn't have so much rain well we didn't in Hertfordshire how about you?

I want to thank all you lovely ladies for such kind words with the loss I had last week etc, You are all such lovely and amazing people and I am inspired as much by you guys as you are with me so blessings to you all. Also welcome to the couple of new ladies that joined this week too, If you are new please try and pop back after you leave a comment on a blog post as I always try to answer you as I like to get to know you all asw well as you knowing me.

I have the winners numbers drawn with Random.org as usual for my card give away Friday , I have also left comments on the posts from Friday so you know who you are as I have several ladies with the same names so it would get confusing,  if you check back on your comments from the twofer post you will see I left you my email address to send your addy to, then I can post you your cards out.

The numbers that were chosen were.

Pat for the Red first card.          &             Sue B for the blue card.

Ladies as always if you send me your addresses to my email at:
kim.robertson70@googlemail.com    I will then get your cards out to you.

Today's card is the one I used for my first demo on my show and I repeated it with pinks and purples on the show which was sent to one lucky lady already so I have the green/orange version still unblogged so I thought I'd show you that one today.

I loved showing how easy this one is but how tricky it looks  and it shows again how no matter how you choose your distress colours they are all designed to blend well.
Here is a close up on the butterflies which I simply adore.

And the sentiment that just seemed to be perfect and I loved the writing style on this one too.

I had lots of my teams on C&C this weekend all with shows , there was Visible Image on Saturday and Craftwork cards on Sat and Sunday and also our lovely Sue on the tool shed  Sunday with lots of Just Rite goodies and they were so good to relax back with my tea and the neighbours kitty on my lap (I have been adopted) I needed a proper rest and certainly feel refreshed after that.

I was so Pleased for Mark and Helen from Visible Image too as It takes a very long time for them to prepare enough stock for large shows like C&C as Helen writes all the beautiful verses and markets and packs all the stamps etc, and Mark designs and makes, plus hand cuts all the stamps too, I am so proud to say I work with a true family team. Helen was very emotional when her verses became limited within the first show, She writes beautifully and is very humble. So a huge well done to them.

I have another little thing I am going to add to the blog as a few of you sometimes like to share your cards inspired by what I have done on air or on the blog and email them to me for a look so I thought how lovely would it be as you are all very supportive of me and my work if I showed cards inspired by something I did on here so today I have the first card that I have permission to show from a lovely lovely lady you see posting her comments to me regularly on here and has become a very special lady to me. I will be calling this section Inspired By. I hope to have a regular day each week but it depends how many get sent to me of course.

So today is the turn on Inspired by, for Patricia Howarth who made her husband a birthday card with Visible Image stamps after seeing a card I made for my weekly Design team post that week, she did a fabulous job and I love it so here it is.

 By Patricia Howarth

Didn't she do a great job, Please let her know what you all think as I am sure you will agree with me and join in to congratulate what a lovely job she did.

This was my card that she was Inspired by.

                                                                 Kim Robertson

So if anyone else would like to see their cards here on my blog then feel free to email me a picture with a little email telling me what item or card inspired you and that you are happy for it to go on the blog and I will do that for you. I love seeing your work but I like to think of ways to thank you as you always visit me and I appreciate all of your comments no matter how small.

As you all know I also draw stamp designs for a couple of companies and this week I was proud to say I received from Heartfelt Creations the manufactured stamp piece I drew for their April launch so I cant show it to you yet but I will as soon as I can. Over the moon is a total understatement when you have the actual stamp for others to use in your hand. WOW.

Have a great day everyone and I look forward to reading your comments later.

Big hugs to you all

Love
Kim

Friday Card Give away and Twofer.

Hi Everyone.

I know I am like waiting for a bus hey, nothing for ages then all of a sudden there's two in a row hehe.

Well as I still have some cards I haven't put on the blog from the show I thought we would have a two fer today and a chance for you guys to win two of my cards this week. As usual I will choose from all the comments left on today's post and two of you will each win a card from yours truly.

Here is the first card from the show.

I used the Black eyed Susan stamps from Just Rite to create this simple
Birthday card.
A close up of the sentiment also Just Rite.

I used Water colour pens to create this one and some momento ink to stamp on the frame. The aperture was cut using the Vintage labels 4 also from Just rite.

The next card again has that Wedgwood feel to it.

I also used the Black eyed Susan stamp here but it was the smaller one in the set simply stamped with the new Wendy Vechi Inks in the Archival range in cornflower. I also used the ledger single back ground stamp from Creative Expressions and embossed with True white embossing powder to create the background for the die cut to sit on
I used several of the Bracket borders from spellbinders to create the layered effect with the die cuts.
A flourish or two from the jewelled flourish set added on top of the bow and a vintage metal embellishment to sit on top of that.
Some light inking behind the flowers and some white pen added into the flowers gives the impression that the die cut is domed slightly but it is completely flat and is just another illusion.I wonder if we paper crafters are actually magicians in disguise haha.

I hope you enjoyed today's twofer and don't forget to add your comment so we can get two more lucky winners this week.

Big hugs

Creative Expressions Thursday.

Hi Everyone.

Well where has this week gone. I am so sorry I haven't been here this week and a huge thank you to Patricia for contacting me to see if I was ok bless her. I have been super busy with my teams and needing to get a little in front with some artwork for Heartfelt Creations but Then I had some sad news that a friend from my old job days had passed away so I didn't get some of the posts I wanted to up on the blog so sorry about that folks but I have been creating again today and again I had another frame to alter this week for Creative Expressions.

It started life looking like this.

And finished Up looking like
This.

What do You think?

This frame comes in two pieces, the back and front so you can separate the two to do those panels at the back, so I decided to use the Teresa Collins Paper pad that Creative Expressions sell and one of the pages is like musical score paper so I cover the back with it, then used the Floral Background stamp and gold embossing powder to add interest to the back then I used some peacock feathers and rusty hinge Distress inks and also some walnut stain too.
Then I covered the front of the frame in the orange script paper and the central cross section I used the turquoise script paper. I sanded it back on the edges and corners to create that aged feeling then added my inks all over. I then took the Distress ins and used the leafy background to add more to the paper keeping it tone on tone. lastly I worked lots of Gilding wax into the frame edges . I tied some tulle and a bow with silky crush ribbon and added one of the new cameo backs with a flower cameo in the centre which i added gold wax to, i added this bow to the bottom left corner.
I used The butterfly Collage set from my recent show on Create and craft to stamp out the butterfly onto some more paper with Rusty hinge ink. I also used the sentiment for the bottom right of the frame , which I inked ever so slightly around the edges to soften the brightness of the card. I added a silk ribbon flower to two opposite corners and the butterflies I added double sided adhesive and micro beads for some texture and added the first into the aperture and then the second I adhered with a glue dot in the centre only so the wings could remain dimensional.
I added a couple of large pearls to the top of the frame and 6 of the metal corners also from my show as they bend very easily so I added them with a glue dot ad simply bent the corner over to grip the central crossed panel, I the added more gilding wax to each one and I think it came out really nice.

 Another view.
The micro beaded Butterfly and close up of the paper etc.

Excuse my hand but I wanted to add this to the cream wall to show how well it matched in with a neutral backing.

I wanted to let everyone know they should have their cards and the prize winning by now so enjoy everyone.
Hugs to all.

Creative Expressions Thursday

Hi Folks.

Hope you are all having a great week, Thursday already hey Where does the time go ?

We were sent some lovely background stamps this month for the design team as you all saw last week well we were also sent some of the new lovely chipboard shapes made by Pronti which our Hels was demoing on C&C Sunday so I decided to use one of those this week and alter it a little.
I used the Frame Birdhouse and it looked like this to start.

Its a bit blurry as I nicked the image from the internet (forgot to do it before I lathered paint all over it haha.
Here it is after.
It will take a while to get all round it as there are lots of different elements all made or sold by Creative Expressions of course, I even through in a couple Of Wendy Vechi resin flowers, Some of the new Cameo holders ( the cameo isn't Creative I am afraid) There is one of the metal corners on the top that I had on my show last time too.

A bit closer so you can see the cracks in the paint and on the frame you can just see that I used the leafy background stamp too.

I also used the floral background stamp in the centre on the blue part but unfortunately the camera didn't pick it up so well but you can see it in person of course.

In the original all the elements, the flowers and birds etc were all attached in the centre but I wanted to cut them all separate and use them in different places. I even made a few buds for the little corner.
Here it is on its little stand to dry, The brown section has a blue base so that up close you can see the blue come through all the little cracks and sanded parts , The little birds are painted and then covered in microbeads. The hearts are pink with glitter on them. The whole thing has Pewter Creative Expressions gilding wax on and the metal embellishments were all changed from antique gold to pewter with this same product.

Hope you enjoyed this little altered frame and you can joint me tomorrow for another make and a little chat.

I was at Creative Towers this week and they are all very busy for the stitches Trade show Over the weekend at the NEC so I got to see lots of new and amazing products coming very soon to Creative. wow is all I can say you are all in for some gorgeous treats and I can't wait til my next show is all I can say . hehe.

Big old hugs

Visible Image Sunday

Good Morning All my lovelies

Well it has been raining and windy, hands up who has had this nasty wind( not personally you understand lol ) it reminds me of that storm we had in 1987 anyone remember it? Trees were blowing over and landing on cars etc, crazy time that was , I was just about to find out I was carrying my son that year. What was you all doing?

I have  a lovely  Visible Image step by step for you to have a go out , a little recap with a bit extra on  all we have been learning with the random inking since you all first met me
I used some really gorgeous and special stamps today and I hope you will agree it turned out pretty cool.
Take a look .

I have a lot of pictures with this step by step so bear with me and \i really hope you will give it a go and I really would love to see what you create guys.
Ok so here we go.

So to start I used Bundled sage and dusty concord distress inks on a piece of A5 coconut white card and blended in my usual manner, you all know it now don't you? as much ink as you can first go round but build your layers as you go round and remember it is just a piece of card and you do not need to make a fuss this is another just throw it on style card but look at the result.
Here is how mine looked after slapping the ink  on (technical term) lol
Next remember how we did the same ink in the same colour zones  just as we did on the first show, I used the gorgeous Grunge flourish , first I used the back of it around the edge of the card purple in purple and green in green.

Make sure you dry this layer properly with a heat gun and use an anti static pad to as it will stop the embossing powders from clinging to the other inks .I now switch to an archival ink so it gives me a nice crisp images and I am now using the simply divine Music background.
Once I stamped the music background twice in opposite corners I took the large butterfly and again kept the tones in the same colour zones so I didn't muddy the colours and stamped a few on the page
Here you can see the layers starting to build up and its already starting to look pretty don't you think?
On the last show I showed you how to colour your butterflies really quickly and no fussing, the simple way is to stamp them all how you want them and then while they are still on the paper just rub some colour into them how you want it, Once I did this I added some white dots and coloured in white some pieces to give  a little more depth to them, \if you are wondering about the last butterfly in this picture,I took the butterfly stamp and inked it well with the Versafine , I  then pressed the music background onto the inked butterfly which of course removed some ink and I stamped that image which is top right and then I took  the music background and stamped out the image left there too which is the bottom right image. This is called Kiss stamping and usually used on more solid stamps like silhouettes but why not try it on any and see how it goes.
At this stage cut all your butterflies out, you can see the difference the white pen makes to the butterflies already. Once cut out take a sheet of double sided adhesive and then dip each one in whatever medium you prefer, glitter, mica flakes, Micro beads etc and set aside for a minute to dry etc.
Go back to the original piece and take your glue pen and dot it wherever you feel you want the glitter etc.
I used some Frantage aged white powder on top of 2 of the corners where  I used the music background too.
Next i stamped out on coconut white card the live your dreams stamp, you can just see it on the left if you look carefully, I heat embossed it with clear detail powder and versamark ink.
Then blended the same colours to create my focal piece for the card. I also stamped randomly the music
I matted and layered a couple of times and added my butterflies , which are super sparkly but the cameras just can 't pick it up well at all.

I decided to use microbeads on my butterflies i just love how they look. The butterfly on the bottom left has glitter on it.and is the one I explained regarding Kiss stamping.
It definitely was a long project but very worth it I hope you will agree.

The gorgeous stamps used in this project are.
