Creative Expressions Thursday.

Hi Everyone.

Well where has this week gone. I am so sorry I haven't been here this week and a huge thank you to Patricia for contacting me to see if I was ok bless her. I have been super busy with my teams and needing to get a little in front with some artwork for Heartfelt Creations but Then I had some sad news that a friend from my old job days had passed away so I didn't get some of the posts I wanted to up on the blog so sorry about that folks but I have been creating again today and again I had another frame to alter this week for Creative Expressions.

It started life looking like this.

And finished Up looking like
This.

What do You think?

This frame comes in two pieces, the back and front so you can separate the two to do those panels at the back, so I decided to use the Teresa Collins Paper pad that Creative Expressions sell and one of the pages is like musical score paper so I cover the back with it, then used the Floral Background stamp and gold embossing powder to add interest to the back then I used some peacock feathers and rusty hinge Distress inks and also some walnut stain too.
Then I covered the front of the frame in the orange script paper and the central cross section I used the turquoise script paper. I sanded it back on the edges and corners to create that aged feeling then added my inks all over. I then took the Distress ins and used the leafy background to add more to the paper keeping it tone on tone. lastly I worked lots of Gilding wax into the frame edges . I tied some tulle and a bow with silky crush ribbon and added one of the new cameo backs with a flower cameo in the centre which i added gold wax to, i added this bow to the bottom left corner.
I used The butterfly Collage set from my recent show on Create and craft to stamp out the butterfly onto some more paper with Rusty hinge ink. I also used the sentiment for the bottom right of the frame , which I inked ever so slightly around the edges to soften the brightness of the card. I added a silk ribbon flower to two opposite corners and the butterflies I added double sided adhesive and micro beads for some texture and added the first into the aperture and then the second I adhered with a glue dot in the centre only so the wings could remain dimensional.
I added a couple of large pearls to the top of the frame and 6 of the metal corners also from my show as they bend very easily so I added them with a glue dot ad simply bent the corner over to grip the central crossed panel, I the added more gilding wax to each one and I think it came out really nice.

 Another view.
The micro beaded Butterfly and close up of the paper etc.

Excuse my hand but I wanted to add this to the cream wall to show how well it matched in with a neutral backing.

I wanted to let everyone know they should have their cards and the prize winning by now so enjoy everyone.
Hugs to all.

Kim

  3. Morning Kim, I'm so glad you are OK, I am a 'worrier' haha. So sorry to hear the sad news about your work colleague, my thoughts are with you and their family.
I'm loving this 'altered Art', the colours complement beautifully and the tone on tone stamping is gorgeous, as is the gilding wax, it really adds that special 'something' to a project. This would make a really stunning wall-hanging.
I hope you have a lovely day.

  9. Hi Kim,
So pleased that you are ok but so sorry to hear about losing your friend. I love this frame I have two very bare frames that I must decorate soon. I have 2 golden weddings in the family this year but getting starting to decorate them is another thing as I only want to use gold and white but don't want them to look too boring....help! Oh and I have never decorated frames before only made cards!

    Love Sheila xx

    1. Hi Sheila.
I have been thinking about your golden weddings gold and white embossing never looks boring especially if you thing lessis more, I think id paint the whole frame gold and then add alayer of crackle glaze and dry it. then add a white layerand wait for it to crack and the gold will show through, then add gold gilding wax to the edges, then you have your base. In each section I would add something relevent to each couple like a little book theat opens with the date of their wedding, or 2 interlocking rings, a gold heart , 50 i another , maybe love in another. then I would add some gold leave in soft gold card to just one of the bottom corners and a white rose to the centre and some white pearls but less is more on the fame let the cracks and the gilding speak for itself.
Big hugs and i hope this helps a little

  14. Hi Kim,
So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I don't know whether I would feel like crafting at this time - suspect not. BUT if you dedicated this frame to your friend it would give you comfort, I think.
It certainly is beautiful, the colours are just up my street and the sentiment is lovely.
    Thank you for sharing.

    1. Hi Rose
Thankyou for your kind words too and sometimes creating is what keeps me strong, It is my outlet and I always try to turn to it for it is all consuming once you start to concentrate on a project you can lose yourself in it for hours and it keeps your mind occupied dont youthink? I love mixing up the colours and opposites on the colour spectrum can be so striking rather than a matching spectrum which is lovely but doesnt give that huge hit when you look at it, if you know what i am rambling about haha.

  17. Good evening Kim
I like others had been wondering if anything was wrong over the past few days as you hadn't blogged. I hope you are on top of work and I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Your frame is stunning, I love the bright, bold colours they would really stand-out on a wall. I recently found wild honey distress ink at the bottom of my tub of inks and was surprised how nice it was - nobody ever seems to use it (it reminds me of a 'sunny' version of rusty hinge as you used here, Kim) I wonder why? Great idea of a novel way to use your metal corners, I really do need to try to 'think outside the box' a bit more! It really is amazing what someone (with talent) - that's you Kim...lol...can create with a few stamps, inks and ribbon. Looking forward to your next post.. no pressure then...ha ha!!!

    1. Hi Sharon.
I love love wild honey , that was one of the colours I used on the original piece you all saw me create with the Taylored expressions Discover yur wings collection, it goes stunningly well with peeled paint distress ink too. It also blends fabulously with Vintage photo and Walnut stain if you want to go for a neutral aged look.Ahhh bless you Sharon thanks so much for that kind kind message and lovely words. I had created a couple of posts in a row haha
Thanks for cheering me up Hugs Kim xxx

  20. Hi Kim and Kimettes. Im a day late posting and Im sorry ! Im all over the place emotionally at present. Let's just say I feel Im on a different planet ! Such a lovely peice of art Kim. I started using canvas a few months ago. Using paint to colour the background and using some stamps framing the stamp with SB frames along with a fitting sentiment. They dont sell although they are quite pretty. Maybe when Im back to my old self I should try MDF art work. Unfortunatly I was given a gift to 'alter' for xmas that im not keen of, it was due to go to a charity shop, I have 2 choices - either use it to practice or if anyone here would like it Im only to happy to send it on. Its a house frame that makes a book. I think it came from the young lady that demo's on cc and works wonders with colouring and digistamps im so sorry her name has skipped my mind.
Im really sorry to read about your friend Kim, hope you feel a little less sad in time.
    Love to all.
