I know I am like waiting for a bus hey, nothing for ages then all of a sudden there's two in a row hehe.
Well as I still have some cards I haven't put on the blog from the show I thought we would have a two fer today and a chance for you guys to win two of my cards this week. As usual I will choose from all the comments left on today's post and two of you will each win a card from yours truly.
Here is the first card from the show.
I used the Black eyed Susan stamps from Just Rite to create this simple
Birthday card.
A close up of the sentiment also Just Rite.
I used Water colour pens to create this one and some momento ink to stamp on the frame. The aperture was cut using the Vintage labels 4 also from Just rite.
The next card again has that Wedgwood feel to it.
I used several of the Bracket borders from spellbinders to create the layered effect with the die cuts.
A flourish or two from the jewelled flourish set added on top of the bow and a vintage metal embellishment to sit on top of that.
Some light inking behind the flowers and some white pen added into the flowers gives the impression that the die cut is domed slightly but it is completely flat and is just another illusion.I wonder if we paper crafters are actually magicians in disguise haha.
Big hugs
Kim

Hi Kim, wow, these cards are beautiful, I think the blue one is my favourite. I would be very lucky to have one of these to display and give me inspiration. Good luck everyone. Bx
ReplyDeleteMorning Bridget.
DeleteThanks so much for your kind words and good luck xxx
Hi Kim. Oh, I love twofers and both of these are beautiful. The Black eyed Susan stamps are gorgeous aren't they, and I love the heart embellishment on the fist card. Good luck everyone
ReplyDelete: ) Take care.
Morning Mrs B, Yes I love the Black eyed Susan stamps, Well I love most of Just Rite stamps to be honest. The embelli on the first card is a little Wendy Vechi heart that I got in a pack of two a couple of years ago now and thought yup it goes perfect on that one. Thanks for your kindness
DeleteLove Kim xx
Morning Kim, You are spoiling us today, but I like it !! Both these cards are stunning, but from someone who collects blue and white 'anything' (plates, crockery etc etc etc), I am in love with the second one, especially loving the ledger stamping and heat embossing, the layered borders and the focal stamping and yes, it really does look 'domed', you are a genius, I would love to know how you have achieved that look.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win, Good Luck to everyone !!
Lots of love from Patricia xx
Morning Patricia. The doming effect is done with the ining on the back ground and how you keep it really pale in the centre and darking toward the outside , it automatically draws your eye in and gives it the perspective of looking domed, if you did it the other way dark in the centre it would look concave instead. Thanks for being with me , I really do appreciate you being here. Just wish you all ived closer id drop in for crafty suprises hehe. Kim xx
DeleteHi Kim
ReplyDeleteBoth very lovely cards but I'm liking the Wedgewood one too, it's a stunner!
I love the colour. If I may ask you a question please?
How long does it take you to make such lovely masterpieces from start to finish, the stamping, colouring, cutting, sticking, matting and layering etc.
I know as a crafter it takes me ages so I really appreciate how gorgeous these cards are.
And just to add I think when the lucky winners receive them they will love them ! x
Hi lovely
DeleteCards do take a long time expecially if they have a lot of work on the image like inking or painting wise etc but it really depends on what techniques yu use. I try to get time to sit even just the odd hour in fron of something I have got ready to watch where I make up alot of felt flowers or ribbon bows or cut out and ink lots of flowers from heartfelts matching die/stamp sets, and sit shaping them or making buds etc as when it comes to building a card then it is quicker than having to start completely from scratch. I have some of those Jars that have a sucton top and in it i add my felt flowers etc so I have several of those full of things ready to go. Thanks again for your kind words and for being here with me. Big hug

Both beautiful cards Kim but I am drawn to the second. I just love blue & particularly like that cornflower Wendy vechi ink! Much better night's sleep last night! I normally give myself an hour & if I still can't get back to sleep I get up & craft or catch up on recorded create & craft!

I'll have to come back later and see what you've replied to the other bloggers. The periwinkle card is my second favourite and lilac and purple. Afternoon Kim and Kimettes.
ReplyDeleteWow. Stunning. Delightful. What more can I say,and I agree with claio no matter how simple a card maybe only those that make them know how much time, attention and love goes into making them. If the card I was lucky to win is anything to go by, these treasures will be breath taking in real life.
Would you lovely ladies interested in Altered Art please look back at the post I just added to YESTERDAY's POST.
Hugs to you ALL.

Hi Steph

Good afternoon Kim
ReplyDeleteYour cards as usual are lovely. I've reserved a big WOW for the colouring on the black-eyed Susan, it's almost life-like!! And what to do with scarlet ribbon when you don't want to match it up with black? - well Kim, you've sorted that one out by creating something beautiful with your first card. I really love the wedgewood card too. I've never used the curved borders and what you have achieved here is brilliant the way it wraps around your focal image - which does look domed.....oh no it's not....oh yes it is....
Hugs
Sharon Kirkwood x
Haha Hi Sharon, You are so funny, really make me smile wen I read your comments bless you. Thank you as always for your kindness and being here with me. Big old hug

Two really lovely cards. The first with the lovely yellow of the flowers, and that orangy red ribbon makes a real statement, and I love the little random yellow flower heads on the frame. I love the blue of the second card and that white embossed ledger background suits it perfectly. I adore the S/B bracket and flourish dies - I must get one of these as I do love the curves it creates. I would love it if I was lucky enough to receive either of these super cards. x

Whilst I've got the borders and think that they're lovely, I never seem to be making full use of them. Must really do more of that in future.

Drawn to the blue and white - beautiful card..... as before someone said how long must it take you to make a card? It takes me ages, as when I start not really sure where it will go until something inspires me.
Love your blog - thank you for making the time to share.
Sheila x
hI Sheila. It can take ages to do cards but not always these two didnt take that long but In a whole day maybe 5-6 of the long ones can be acheived but I rarely get a whole day maybe just a few hours in the evening with my drawings etc and samples too. Thank you so much for your kind words re my blog, I try to make it a little different . Hugs Kim xx
