Creative Expressions Thursday.

Hello my lovelies

Wow doesn't time disappear fast these days, I can't believe it is already Thursday again can you?
well as you know this month we have been using the Handbag stamps and the Vintage dress form  stamps by Creative Expressions for our design team inspiration and as I used the handbag last week I thought I'd use a couple more of the dress forms , I also found a real vintage looking metal cameo so I of course had to use that too.
Soon it will be show time ( pardon the pun ) again  and it is also my birthday on the 26th so in aid of all this, starting Monday 27thjan at 8.a.m and running all week until the 31st Jan at about 6pm I am going to have another little competition running and again all you will need to do is make sure you are a follower on the blog and leave me a comment on Mondays competition post and we will have one 1st prize and I will also send out a few of my cards I have made for the shows etc all signed to you too so don't miss out it will be a great prize which I will announce nearer the time.

So here is today's vintage card.

I used several of the elements that I used like the little scissors everyone loved  a couple of weeks ago but this time I added some wax to change the colour a little to a golden tone. I used some ripped paper from the Teresa Collins pad created for Creative Expressions too.

So here we go with the step by step for you bloglies hehe.

I used one of Ali's Masks from the Special touch masks range which looked a little like stitching of sorts to me and embossed a piece of thin plain white card stock I left a thin border and ink ed it to bring out the embossing with Frayed Burlap and Tea dye Distress inks and a piece of Cut and dry foam a little but not too much yet.
When I ran the above white piece through my GC to emboss I added a piece of soft gold card also too as a shim but it actually picked up the embossing a little just lightly and at this point I decided to use it in my design so I cut it to size and added a piece of measure tape ribbon to the top, I would only see the right piece so I wasn't worried bout covering the entire length.
Next I took a piece of the Teresa Collins paper and tore it toward me  until it was long and fairly thin and had pieces I could ink and spritz with water and curl up and as the paper is extremely good quality it takes well to this technique and doesn't just go soggy as it were.
So I then took a piece of corrugated paper (from RYMAN stationers , it comes in a five metre roll for 4.99 so you could maybe go halves with a pal or something to get this if you like its look as I do) and tore a piece of this too in almost an L shape , I also got a large piece of black for the back of the card(81/2 by 81/2 inches) and a smaller piece to go behind the corrugated piece for stability. I also wanted to add more of the measure tape ribbon.
So I added the gold piece to the top right of the black card I then added a small piece of black card down the left hand edge. on top of that I used a wet glue to secure the corrugated card and on top of that I added the TC paper which I inked with tea dye and Vintage Photo Distress inks and spritzed with water to make the ink wick and start to curl up.

I then wrapped some natural raffia around the first piece of card three times and tied a couple of small pieces into a knot or two on the right and i took another piece of inked paper and stuck it to the back of the card, I used a piece again from the TC pad this time with words on it, I made a hole in it and the embossed piece and used a small bead to secure the turn back in place, I then added 3mm thick foam to the back and stuck this piece down too, So this was to be the backing piece.
I stamped out my 2 vintage dress forms and used the Becca Feeken Vintage filigree labels die from Just Rite to cut it out with the largest shape, once cut out and embossed and inked through the die with Vintage photo Distress ink I took the die and turned it upside down on some black card and drew around it in white pen, I then cut it out with scissors to create a faux nestie and give just a tiny black border to separate the colours slightly. I also cut out 1 shape from the Heartfelt Creations Raindrops o roses die which is fabulous and I then snipped it in half and added it behind the foam on my main image.
Here is the raffia bow with a measure tape bow and some twine added with the thick metal cameo with the gilding wax on top of the face, it had a hook to hang it from a chain i think which I snapped off very easily before adding the wax.
I stamped my sentiment from the Vintage Dress form pack and cut out with a little label pack from spellbinders die cuts ( I really love this font, so elegant)
At this stage the corner looked like this with the word paper and turn back , held back with a small brad etc  but I decided I didn't just want to leave it plain so I went ahead with a few additions.
I added more measure tape ribbon, a large metal Creative expressions corner and a wooden peg which at the end I added gold wax to also.
Here is a close up of the scissors and you can see the waxes on the dies cuts etc too.
This is a close up of the mid section and all i added at this stage was three smaller metal corners and another wooden peg to finish the card.
A photo taken with a little more of the dimension on show.

Well guys I hope you enjoyed the step by step for this one and that you like the card as much as me, i love this kind of style its right up my street as it were.

How are you all this week?
I was wondering what every ones favourite embellishments  for cards were, metal or wood, flowers or bows , please leave a comment and let me know if you can I am very addicted to embellishments but never like to go over the top, however I could buy lots and lots of them as I really love anything miniature too.

Ok lovlies Have a great Thursday and I really look forward to answering all your comments tomorrow.
Lots of love and hugs

  2. Hi Kim. Fabulous card! Love all of the layers and textures in it. The scissors are gorgeous. I love most embellishments, can't say that I have a favourite, it depends on the card I think, (I do love collecting old buttons to use on my cards though) Take care.

  3. Morning Kim, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, for the opportunity of winning one of your beautiful cards or goodies in your competition.
I absolutely love this card today, the step by step is fabulous, and in great detail, I love everything on the card, the embellishments are beautiful, especially the vintage scissors, I love anything 'vintage' - that's probably because I am vintage haha. I really adore Becca's die, think I 'need' that one.
I almost always have ribbon and flowers on my cards, well perhaps not on the 'male' ones haha, but I really do love embellies and the 'pegs' and metal corners are really great, think I may have to have some of those too. I especially love your cameo, it is very similar to a brooch that I have from my Nan.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

    1. Good Morning lovely Patricia
Thanks for stopping by I got the little pegs in a couple of different small and tiny sizes each for 99p so I thought they were a litle bargain and sometimes you find them in the oddest little places and shops. I remember my auntie used to have all manner of real hair lockets and cameos too and these always remind me.
      Have a lovely creative day

  7. Hi Kim

What a lovely card you have done and I actually have these dies. Love all the embellishments you have used, but don't actually put any on my cards. I have flowers and brads, so perhaps I will have to start. Thanks for the opportunity to win something on your blog. As I've only just found it, it would be lovely to win one of your cards.

    1. Hi Pat and good morning to you.I love these dies too, so simple and curvy not too fussy then you have the gorgeous Heartfelt creations one which is stunning. Most of the time embellishments are the things that really dress up a card and change it from being nice to gorgeous. If you notice cards and imagine them with no ebellis, all the ones you ook at from now you will see what i mean. Im so pleeased you found the blog , I am still building up but it is going from strength to strength so stick with me if you can.

  8. What a truly innovative card, I love it. My thing at the moment is flowers on everything, having just bought the majestic blooms stamp & die. Have nearly always included ribbon on my cards unless they are for the male species but then will usually add some twine or similar. Just love your creations & thanks for the tutorials have already tried 2 of your cards with my own spin on & have been pleased with the results. Can you bottle up some of your inspiration please lol. x

  10. Hi Kim.
You've done it AGAIN ! WOW ! So much expression, so inventive, so clever, what an imagination.
Im a 50 odd girly crafter that loves delicate pastels (but do use strong colours) I love ribbon, flowers and sparkles, once I have learnt more techniques, saved and invested in more stash (I'll be to old to use em) no, hopefully, now I have my MOST favourite blogs to follow, I can learn a little from each of you and expand my non existant imagination.
    Love to all.
