Visible Image Sunday

Hi everyone
I hope everyone has had a very nice week and a nice sunny weekend so far and today or at least down my way is supposed to be nice and sunny and warm how lovely. It definitely makes you feel better as soon as a bit of sun shines through doesn't it.

I have been in the old craft room today creating a card for Visible Image and I went for that classic Periwinkle blue and Milk Foundations card team again as I do love it. I also used another of their new flower and verse sets recently demo'd by our Mark on C&C. This time I used The Thank you set.

I stamped out 3 flower heads and stems in Archival blue violet ink and then drew around one side of each flower in Broken china distress pen and dotted the centre with Picket Fence distress pen. I then went over the darker colour with little dots of the Sakura gelly roll clear star pen this one has a silver sparkle but it comes in lots of colours, I also stamped out the thank you sentiments and measured how far down it would come on the page so I could add the verse.
This is the Archival I used on this one and below is the 2 distress pens.
( How I would love to have the big tub of these to do some art with) hmmm
I also used
This was used to ink the flower for the rose and rose buds and also for the edges of the embossed milk card too.
Here is a close up of the flowers stamped onto milk card with the Blue violet then broken china distress pen was add one side of all the petals and one side of the stem. Then the sakura pen was added for that sparkle. All three were added onto Periwinkle blue card and then navy card. I used 3 mm foam to adhere them to the milk card that I embossed with this subtle dotty image.
This is my full rose bloom made with the Majestic bloom die from Heartfelt Creations on top of one of their Classic leaves also, which I inked using adirondak inks.
These are the three small buds also made from the same die but using the smallest flowers, all four flowers the full and three buds were made with one set of flowers from 1 pass through the Grande calibre die cutting system.
Here is The little Thank you mounted on just a small piece of the raindrops on roses die from February's launch for heartfelt creations, below you will see a whole die cut , where I took my small piece from.

I tied a messy bow using Blue seem binding and blue and white bakers twine with a dazzler in opaque blue on top. Here are the two below that I used.

Of course we have another fabulous verse from Helen at the bottom stamped again in the same blue violet archival and broken china added to the right side of each letter then the sakura  sparkle on top.

A different view to see the dimension.
Lastly a few flat back pearls added.
Here is the stamp set
"Thank you"
that I used.
So I hope you enjoyed today's card and that the beginners among you will give it ago as it really is only the flowers that are intermediate on this one so have a go and remember I'd love to show anyone work if they have seen anything on the blog that They were 'Inspired by'.

Why is it we always want to spring clean or think about it at least as soon as the sun shines anyone know? I was at that well Known Swedish store getting more boxes and storage items so I could get a little more organised in the craft room, what do you all store your stash in?
Lots of love
Kim

  1. Hi Kim, wow what a stunner, love the colour scheme ( I love any shade of blue) the stamps are brilliant. You are right, the sunshine always lifts my spirits even though due to my fair skin I 'm unable to sit out in it for too long. I am lucky as hubby has bought me storage drawer sets to keep my crafty stash in . I have a bit of a problem though in that some magical creature gets into my craftroom when I'm not around and casts a spell so that when I use something and go to put it back the drawers are suddenly overflowing with goodies. Oh well , I'll just have to make room for more storage as getting rid of any crafty bits is unthinkable . Have a great crafty Sunday. Lol lynne m x x x

  7. Hi Kim. What a beautiful card. I love the periwinkle, it is such a gorgeous colour. I also love the flowers and the sentiment, thanks for explaining how you built up the colours on the text. I struggle to get shading etc right so I always like any help with that : ) My stash is in a variety of boxes and a small set of plastic drawers, all stored in our bedroom, which is where I craft. Hubby has threatened to build me a proper storage unit for it all! That would be lovely, making it easier to get things out, rather than having to move boxes to get to something. Why is the item you want always at the bottom of a pile, no matter how you try to organise them? Anyway, I hope that everyone is having the gorgeous weather that we have here, sounds like you are Kim. It just makes you feel so much better when the sun is out doesn't it. Long may it last : ) Take care.

Love this card the periwinkle blue is gorgeous. I must try to use several colours of blue. I love the raindrops on roses dies and stamps. I keep my crafty stash in plastic boxes rom Rangers, that I bought while we were down in Bournemouth. I have a unit which was bought from that shop. My did we have a job putting it up. We couldn't put it up in our small bedroom.it was to big. Shifted our bedroom around and put the bed on it's side against the wall to make room. We assembled it and then tried to manoeuvre it through the our door and into the little room. It was to big to move round the door so tried to put it over the bannister to get it in. it got stuck. We managed in the end to half build one side then very carefully turned it over and slid the other back in. My was the air blue. The moral of this tale is make sure you measure to make sure the unit will fit in.

  13. Sunday smiles Kim and all Kimettes : )
At last, sun, how lovely. Im itching to get curtains down, hubby itching to get out, but my body is unsure of both itches !! Brain cell says "Mothers Day and Easter cards) ready for Sunday after next, body says plenty of time (obviously body doesn't realise brain isn't artistic or creative enough to wait till last minute) !! Kimmie, hand over that brain just for a few days at least, then you can rest : )

What a boootiful card. I use panals quite a bit, especially to use my embossing folders, it helps get me by until I get an A4 machine then the sky will be my limit (although I'll NEED A4 folders) ! More expense : /
We inherited a double built in wardrobe in the spare room when we moved here and I litterally chucked all my gear in there. Last year I had a massive clear out of my 'cheap' items -.you know, the rubbish you buy when first starting this hobby, the stuff you thought was great until you find the REAL crafters delight (expensive good quality things) so all my cheap quality cards, peel offs etc (10) boxes of rubber stamps and all sorts went round to the childrens ward to help pass their long and horrible days/weeks in hospital, making me room to organise my space.

I hope all Kimettes have a lovely day whatever you decide to do with it.

    Hugs.

  15. What a lovely fresh looking card this is, I really like these stamps. Note to self, start the "ally pally" list with a couple of these stamps at the top. As for storage Kim, I have a huge walk in cupboard in my little flat, which was brilliant at first but like everyone else I'm sure, we can never stop buying these wonderful crafty goodies. Over the years the cupboard has now spread into other rooms & other cupboards so much so that one day you won't be able to find me amongst all the card, papers & stamps that I have accumulated. Good job I have a very laid back partner ( think he actually likes it that I'm in the cupboard most of the time & he can watch whatever he wants on tv ) so it works well. Anyway one day I may even have a craft ROOM to put even more stuff in.
Have a good day, the sun is shining & I'm crafting what more could you ask for.

  16. Hi Kim what a fabulous card. I'm not a lover of blue but love how you have used it with the stamps. I used to use our dining room when I first started card making 4yrs ago but the more things I bought the more I hated seeing it all through the doors when walking past. So I moved upstairs. Our bedroom was knocked through into the bedroom next to it via an arch in the joining wall many years ago. Hubby made me a wooden desk for the computer way back when so after I moved all my stash up he made me another desk for me to do my cards on. The only thing was it wasn't deep enough but I persevered with it. Recently I inherited a desk/table from my lovely friend and it is perfect for crafting. All my stamps are in cd cases labelled with make and what they are and stored upright in wicker baskets under my desk. Card is stored in a metal cabinet with 15 a4 size drawers that my son brought home from his office. Perfect! Other stuff is stored on the shelves in the wardrobe which is in the same area of room. Plus I have bedside drawers tucked under both desks on has all my rolls of ribbon in and the other has odds n sods, as they say. My desk in under the window which has a deep windowsill so I have a small 3 drawer unit that holds my inks. I really need more ink pads, lol. That's it I think . The sun has come out here finally so might have to do a bit of cleaning up, just a little bit, then get crafting. Enjoy the rest of your weekend Kim, oh I love VI stamps. Saw a sample of Pauline Butchers done with them last August and have been hooked ever since. Take care now xxx

  18. Hi Kim, what a gorgeous card, I love the colours, and the flower heads in three's are always a good number, it would be good for lots of occasions. Love the dazzler, I'm reluctant to use my nice gems, papers etc, just love looking at them, I do use on special cards. I am really lucky to have a room for my crafting, my husband is amazing, I just have to say I need another shelf or something and its done in no time, its very organised (most of the time) ha ha, I have clear boxes for most things, tubs with flowers, buttons and ribbons in colour order. My 14 yr old daughter loves it, when she has art homework she has all she needs too, my pro markers seem to have dissapeared to her bedroom! She likes doing manta drawings, I don't mind as I've got my eye on copics, I can't make up my mind out of them or graph-it markers though, anyway I can dream, everything is brilliant, and with the help and inspiration from blogs like yours, I always feel inspired, so thank you.

  19. Hi Kim, I have been hard at it this afternoon, after Church and lunch, I went in the garden and did all the front and back gardening, I know about it now though !!!! my back is terrible, I forget how old I am haha I still think I can do the same things as when I was 21 (all those years ago haha). I even have a problem with the sweeping, it kills my back, so Graham came out and helped there. It looks lovely now.
I am here in tears at this present moment, as my favourite has just won Dancing on Ice, I voted for Ray, and I am as 'over the moon' as he is !!!
Getting down to business now haha, I love this card, love the panels and love all the little pen touches you have done, I especially love the flower and the beautiful 'ickle buds, I have used that HC die over and over again since I got it with the stamps, and the HC Raindrops on Roses die cuts like a knife through butter, and the waste comes out a dream. I must admit that I don't usually do 'panels' because I tried it once and couldn't get them even, so didn't try again, but you have enthused me to give it another go haha !!
My craft room is a spare bedroom, it has cupboards, tables, a massive bookcase, ink pad racks, really useful boxes (tons of them haha), and everywhere is packed to the gunnels, I have a full set of A4 paper racks that I brought from work when we moved office locations and everything had to go. I usually end up crafting on my A3+ glass mat with my guillotine at the side, the rest of the table space is full haha. I have organised all my dies into 3 suspension files, and all my stamps into pockets in loads of ring binders, and all my tools etc etc are in 6 small plastic sets of drawers in front of my crafting area. All my 12 x 12 papers are in plastic boxes, I have had most of them for years, they are Anna Griffin papers and I love them too much to cut into, but I will have to 'one day' haha.
    Take care.

Bless you , I lve your sentiment Patricia and how you really feel for people. I was told many years ago I am supposed to have some kind of healing anyway over the years I have learned a lot of massage techniques and If you lived nearer Id get that back a little less painful for you. Have youthought of taking some glucosamine from the health food shop that also helps backs? My son has a condition and suffers alot and I have always helped him and him and my daughter both get migraines like me but I can drain their sinuses which takes pressure off and usually relieves it for them.when i worked at the hospital all day people used to want back and neck massages etc.
The trick with panals is always do the middle one first then you have some shuffle room with the side ones.
wow you are a lucky lady with all your stash and storage. Lovely I am so pleased for you.

    2. Hi again Kim, Funnily my back is a lot better today, shhhhh, don't let me speak too soon haha. I have been taking Glucosamine Sulphate for a number of years now, but I so wish you could drain my sinuses, I have had a head cold now for over a month, I wish you could take that away for me haha. I had my ears syringed last Tuesday and they are doing it again this Tuesday, it will be fantastic when I can hear again, although the olive oil drops I have to put in really do make a mess everywhere when they run out haha, I will be glad to stop putting them in.
I was thinking after my comments yesterday, I have a real problem with my lengths of ribbon, at present I just have them in 2 drawers, but they seem to get really creased and I can never find anything, any ideas there ????
Lots of love from Patricia xx

      Delete
    3. Hi Patricia. I hope that your ears clear after syringing tomorrow. Do you put a small piece of cotton wool in your ears after putting in the olive oil? I was told to do that by my doctor when I had the same trouble.
I had the same problem with my ribbons and after having a look online for storage ideas I found the following useful for me, at the moment. I hope it makes sense! (Sorry but I can't remember where I found it so can't give you the link) Take a strong coat hanger, the same shape as the thin metal ones but a stronger plastic or wooden one. Attach (lots!) of hinged split rings to the long bar. (Google them if you don't know what they are as I think they are known by various names) I have one for each colour of ribbon. You may need more than one hanger, depends how much ribbon you have : ) Thread each ribbon through the split ring until you have about half the length on each side. I used 20mm rings, which is fine for narrow ribbon/cords and 45mm for some of the wider. I do need to get some even wider ones but obviously you will get the suitable size for you, just make sure that the ribbon does not need to be creased or folded to thread it through. I always (carefully) iron my ribbon, between white uncoated paper, if it has got creased, before storing so that it is ready to use. I then made a small hole in the bottom of a large clear bin bag and slipped this over the hanger hook and use it as cover to keep the ribbons clean as I have to hang it on the back of a door. I find it really easy to see and select the ribbon that I want, and you can easily hold different colours together if you want to when matching up. It is just as easy to put back the surplus. I also have a small bag on one ring that I put any small pieces of ribbon in that are too short to hang. I hope this makes some sense. Take care.

    4. Oh !! Mrs B, you are an angel, this solution sounds just what I need, I will be definitely giving this a try, I have 2 drawers full of ribbons, I only have a few that are on spools, and this idea will work perfectly. Thank you so much for this.
I must admit that the Nurse told me not to put a plug of cotton wool in my ears after putting in the drops, but I do !! I tend to put the drops in one ear, keep my head inclined (which is hard work for me, as I have a problem with my cervical spine in neck going into head, and I lie with my head on the sofa arm which keeps it in the right place, for 10 minutes, then I put some cotton wool in, insert the drops into other ear, and put a tissue over the already done ear and lie with that ear on a cushion for another 10 minutes, then I put cotton wool in the second ear, I only leave it in for a short time, then take out and hope nothing comes out, but it still manages to come out haha. I really hope that today's syringing does the trick.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give me your tips, it is greatly appreciated.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

  20. Love the card, I have tried panels early on in my crafting journey but made a bit of a mess of it but will have another go now I think. I did have a craft room but had to give it up and convert back to a bedroom when my daughter moved back last year on a temporary basis. When she moves out again I think it will have to stay as a bedroom for when the grandchildren come to stay. So my crafting is done on the dining room table and I have a variety of boxes stored in the sideboard, under the sideboard, in the wardrobe, on bedroom shelves and well anywhere there is a space really. I do spend a lot of time looking for things I've lost. It's interesting to hear how others store their stamps and dies.

I hope you have another g with the panals they always seem to look elegant in three's , do the middle one first it makes life much easier. Yes I always find it a huge benefit to listen to others storage ideas and to go look on you tube at craft room tours but I find myself drooling over the american house being so big and spacious and so many cup boards and stash, but it is a lot cheaper out there.

As for storage, I'm hoping to move my craft items into our spare room over the next couple of months. Trouble is I keep putting it off as I think time sorting the room out could be spent crafting! Plus I have a 4 year old who always wants to help which makes things take so much longer!!

  23. Good evening Kim
Sorry, I'm a day late with my comment....better late than never I suppose. What a fabulous card considering the limited but very vivid colour palette, it really is lovely!

  24. Another lovely card Kim and I really love that Periwinkle colour. The stamps and the sentiments are great, and the panels work beautifully with the single stems, and the flowers and the bakers twine and ribbon are lovely finishing touches.I have everything in the living room as we don't have a lot of space here. I have a set of four heavy duty plastic drawers, a dresser type unit with two cupboards under which I use, and the dining table is hardly ever used because I have plastic boxes with my stamps, a rubber mat with a glass mat on top and two boxes for my inks, two boxes for essential tools and adhesives, and then my rotary cutter. If ever we have visitors or someone to stay, and really need the table, I have to move things around a bit and the residue goes upstairs to the spare bedroom, which is where the visitors sleep, so not ideal, and the garage gets overspill from the bedroom in order for me to put the stuff upstairs. Still I am not giving up my crafting because I would be lost without it. x

  25. Hi Kim
I have never tried any stamps from Visible Image, keep meaning to try them and they are on my wish list. I tend to prefer florals and sentiments as opposed to characters really, so this card is really up my street, and like a lot of others love the periwinkle card.
Maybe a big selection of 100 foundations card in all the colours and shades would be good? e.g. say 25 colours, 4 of each ?
and hands up who loves Distress Markers ? Me for one !
    Thanks for sharing Kim x

  26. re storing my stash Kim, I just use clear plastic boxes mainly as they stack ok too, and a couple of self assembly plastic storage units, as I craft in my dining room as I like the table space, it's not the prettiest though but it's very practical. I dream of custom made and maybe white or ivory wood shelf and storage units, in the ideal craft room. Not sure if I can mention the name but recall a pop group who sang Last Christmas ? or Wake me up before you go go, Club Tropicana ? I use their boxes- W**m. xx
They are really good quality and various sizes too and Really Useful ! ha x

Ha ha when I was at shool wham was my favourite, my friend used to walk around in choose life tshirts oh dear , I like george and even drew him and had it on my wall haha. And random fact, andrew ridgely's birthday is the same day as mine.
Good idea to use boxes, I stalk tesco cos they have lots of storage things and at the end of season they have big shoe box type boxes and I paid 1.75 today and they are pretty too.
